| Gordy Molitor, Executive Director Gordy joined Green Empowerment on July 5, 2006, with a deep commitment to the eradication of poverty and considerable experience in managing non-profit organizations, internationally and in Oregon. For the previous 24 years, Gordy worked for CARE in six countries on three different continents. His last assignment was as CARE Country Director for a two-country program, based in Kenya, which supported two cross-border programs into Southern Sudan and Somalia, with and annual budget of $38 million and partnerships with over 45 partner local NGOs. or at (503) 284-5774. Michel Maupoux, Southeast Asia Program Manager/Renewable Energy Engineer Michel Maupoux was born and raised in France. After his French engineering degree, he spent six months backpacking through South America, and two years teaching math and Spanish in West Africa. He then worked several years in a small French pump manufacturing company, where he designed an innovative solar photovoltaic pumping system. He moved to the USA in 1979, spending two years as a research assistant in the Solar Energy Applications Lab of Colorado State University at Fort Collins, CO, and wrote his MS-ME thesis there on a solar grain drying application. He spent 1982 through 2004 in Hewlett-Packard, in engineering, marketing, service & support, and management, in the US Pacific Northwest, France, and Switzerland, working with people of many nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds. With Green Empowerment, Michel has provided design and installation of solar water pumping systems in Nicaragua and the Philippines, and of community solar electrification in Peru. He has taught workshops on solar photovoltaic systems and water pumping systems for remote communities in Peru, Ecuador, and the USA, in English and in Spanish. He can be reached at

or at (503) 284-5774. Anna Garwood, Latin America Program Manager/Grant Writer Anna Garwood has worked with Green Empowerment since 2001. As Latin America Program Manager she works closely with our NGO partners to coordinate trainings, develop project proposals and secure resources. By studying in Venezuela and developing a Women’s Leadership Program with the Central American Solar Energy Project, Anna has gained fluency in Spanish and a cultural understanding valuable for programmatic work. With experience in graphics, layout and a variety of computer programs, Anna also generates GE publications and maintains the website. or (503) 284-5774. Stephanie Routh, Resource Development Coordinator Stephanie has been with Green Empowerment since 2005. Her previous experience in New York, China and Thailand has included teaching (Acting, Scriptwriting, English Lit. and EFL), office management and campaign coordination. She has also been involved in community efforts to stop the construction of six power plants in northern Brooklyn, surface support with Phi Phi Tsunami Dive Camp to clean and help preserve coral reefs near Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, and bicycle advocacy in Portland. Jason Selwitz, Director of Service Learning After graduating from Penn State in Park Management, Jason served in the Philippines with the Peace Corps on the island of Palawan -- the last frontier. He worked with 10 villages and the local government to start a NGO, the Palawan Conservation Corps (1999), to train young adults in agroecology, plumbing/carpentry/electrical trade skills, health/sanitation, ecotourism, and watershed restoration. The PCC continues to work with communities surrounding the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site) to complete needed service projects. At Cal Poly Pomona, Jason received his Master's in Regenerative Studies by studying systems that integrate wastewater treatment, constructed wetlands, and renewable energy. At Green Empowerment, as the Director of Service Learning, Jason builds collaborations with universities/colleges, professional organizations, civic groups, and congregations to support NGO partners and rural communities in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Peru, the Philippines, and along the Burma/Thailand border. With each Green Empowerment project, Jason works to integrate appropriate technology and watershed restoration into the larger renewable energy and/or clean water delivery system. or at (503) 284-5774. Emily Ferguson, Office and Accounting Specialist Emily graduated from Portland State University in 2005 with a B.S. in Sociology and minor in Women's Studies. She has lived all over the U.S., from the Boston metro area to Tennessee to Iowa before settling in Portland in 1998. As a lead organizer with Portland Peak Oil, a grassroots group dedicated to preparing the local community for the post-carbon era, Emily helped facilitate the passage of the nation's first resolution creating a peak oil task force.
