Biogas Network and Design Exchange
In order to improve the design and social integration of Biogas Digesters, Green Empowerment hosted the first annual Workshop to Exchange Biogas Digester Experiences in Latin America in Peru at the CEDECAP center in May, 2009. In 2010, the Network of Biodigesters for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBioLac) met again in Costa Rica at the Earth University campus.

New Partner: IRRI-MEXICO
As part of the Network of Biodigesters for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBioLac), the Instituto Internacional de Recursos Renovables (IRRI) is committed to installing and reporting on 10 systems using their distinct digester model. IRRI's participation will help generate a database of biogas digester designs that work most effectively in different climates and geographical regions.

New Partner: CARE-Ecuador
As part of the Network of Biodigesters for Latin America and the Caribbean (RedBioLac), CARE-Ecuador is playing a major role in promoting the by-product of biogas creation--a sterile fertilizer that can be pelletized for sale on the market. They will promote the technology among farmers and ranchers using the economic benefits as a selling point. They completed construction of several biogas digester in 2009 and will complete a handful more in 2010.
