Andrea is a passionate, versatile leader with diverse management experience and a background in international development and energy efficiency program implementation. She is a strong believer in Green Empowerment’s mission and approach. As the Executive Director, Andrea is charged with leading fundraising efforts, supporting staff on program execution, managing operations and cultivating diverse partnerships.

Latin America Regional Director
Caitlyn joined Green Empowerment in 2009 as a Program Fellow in Nicaragua, where she expanded our projects and her role. As the Latin America Regional Director, she supports our Latin America Team and partner NGOs to develop, coordinate, implement and sustainably expand new and existing projects. She is passionate about improved cookstoves and improving livelihood opportunities.

Asia Regional Director
Gabriel is a renewable energy practitioner developing decentralized clean energy systems in Southeast Asia that are integrated with watershed conservation and rural water supply. As a Program Manager with Green Empowerment in Southeast Asia, he works closely with indigenous community groups seeking energy security and livelihoods that support a conservation vision.

Elise Kittrell

Technical Manager 
As Technical Manager, Elise is responsible for ensuring the technical quality of Green Empowerment’s renewable energy and clean water systems while supporting field staff and local partners in their capacity to design, implement and sustain infrastructure projects.  Elise has a Degree in Biology, a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, and several years of experience in corporate engineering and international development.  She is excited and passionate about using her engineering experience for rural community development.

Johanna Veloz

Ecuador Fellow
After studying management and leadership, Johanna completed a Master’s in Rural Territorial Development in Facultad Latinoamerica de Ciencias Sociales FLACSO. After college she started to working in governmental organizations dealing with issues of agroecology and food sovereignty, women social justice issues. Before Green Empowerment, Johanna participated in a project at the United Nations for conservation the protect areas, working with some the communities in the amazon and coast region with productivity projects.

Jojo PicJojo Fajardo

Philippines Program Manager 
Jojo has been working in the field of international development for many years. He loves the challenge of starting a new project, planning how it will be implemented, and leading and directing its activities. Jojo sees renewable energy as an effective tool for community development and it is what sets Green Empowerment apart from other organizations.

Koto Kishida

Program Officer in Malaysia 
Koto joined Green Empowerment in 2017. She supports our local partners, TONIBUNG and PACOS Trust, in implementing renewable energy projects and identifies new opportunities to bring sustainable agriculture and economic development to the region. Before Green Empowerment, she volunteered to develop a watershed monitoring program in Malaysia while on sabbatical from Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.

Kristen Grauer

Development Manager 
Kristen Grauer joined the Green Empowerment team in early 2018. As Development Manager, she leads the organization’s event-based fundraising efforts, donor stewardship activities and external communications strategy. She is deeply connected to Portland’s nonprofit community, but is most passionate about international development work. She has a B.A. in international studies from Carnegie Mellon University, with a focus on Latin American social and political history and international human rights institutions.

Maria Espinoza

Nicaragua Fellow
Maria has extensive experience in rural sector microfinance in Nicaragua and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. As our Program Fellow in Nicaragua, Maria supports the development and management of projects with our local partners including our revolving loan funds. Maria is excited to join the Green Empowerment team and continue supporting development in rural Nicaragua.

Maria “Gigi” Lourdes Arroyo Gigi Pic

Philippines Finance and Administration Manager
Gigi brings more than twenty years of experience in financial management, human resource administration and risk management to the team. She joined Green Empowerment in 2015 because she liked the idea of working for a non-profit organization and being able to focus on one program.

Martin Olza

Operations Manager
Martin has served as Green Empowerment Operations Manager since 2015, ensuring that day-to-day activities run smoothly and efficiently. In 2018, he expanded his role by joining the Service-Learning leadership team, managing group trips. With a background in cultural anthropology and international community development, Martin participated in project evaluations and field work in Latin America and Spain before joining our team.

Orlan PicOrlan Letran

Philippines Water and Sanitation Technical Officer
As a Technical officer Orlan is responsible for conducting surveys, identifying new sites, designing systems and supervising construction.  He has been working in this field for many years and has a strong connection to the work, because he grew up on a sugarcane farm in Silay City and had to walk at least one kilometer to get water every day before school.

Ecuador Program Manager
Having spent several years organizing community development projects in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Ecuador in partnership with local NGO’s, community organizations, and universities, Sam brings experience in clean water and renewable energy systems, training programs, and rural logistics to the management and expansion of Green Empowerment’s Ecuadorian projects.
