Andrea is a passionate, versatile leader with diverse management experience and a background in international development and energy efficiency program implementation. She is a strong believer in Green Empowerment’s mission and approach. As the Executive Director for Green Empowerment, Andrea is charged with leading fundraising efforts, supporting staff on program execution, managing operations and cultivating diverse partnerships.
Latin America Regional Director
Caitlyn Peake has worked for Green Empowerment in Nicaragua since 2009. As the Latin America Regional Director for GE, Caitlyn supports our Latin America Team and partner NGOs to develop, coordinate, implement, and sustainably expand new and existing projects. She is passionate about improved cook stoves and improving livelihood opportunities.
Asia Regional Director
Gabriel is a renewable energy practitioner developing decentralized clean energy systems in Southeast Asia that are integrated with watershed conservation and rural water supply. As a Program Manager with Green Empowerment in Southeast Asia, he works closely with indigenous community groups seeking energy security and livelihoods that support a conservation vision.
Philippines Program Manager
Jojo has been working in the field of international development for many years. He loves the challenge of starting a new project, planning how it will be implemented, and leading and directing its activities. Jojo sees renewable energy as an effective tool for community development and it is what sets Green Empowerment apart from other organizations.
Elsa joined Green Empowerment in early 2016. As program manager, she is responsible for tracking results across regions, countries, and projects, as well as contributing to project proposals and supporting GE’s communications and service-learning program. With a degree in international affairs, certification in project management for international development, and several years experience representing the UK at the United Nations, Elsa is eager to put her skills and experience to work for Green Empowerment.
Ecuador Program Manager
Having spent several years organizing community development projects in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Ecuador in partnership with local NGO’s, community organizations, and universities, Sam brings experience in clean water and renewable energy systems, training programs, and rural logistics to the management and expansion of Green Empowerment’s Ecuadorian projects.
Mike brings a wealth of experience in private sector accounting and operations management, almost exclusively in small, entrepreneurial organizations. Through it all, he has amassed experience establishing and fine-tuning accounting systems to better manage the organization’s resources and to quantify and improve operations and customer service. Working at Green Empowerment enables Mike to continue fighting for social justice in all areas of his life, not just as a part-time volunteer!
As the Technical Program Manager and ‘Engineer of Randomness’, Aaron teaches renewable energy courses, designs electrification and clean-water projects, researches new technologies, co-runs the service learning program, and travels to Green Empowerment’s partners’ projects on installations and with Service Learning groups. Aaron has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a passion to improve people’s lives through engineering, infrastructure investment, and piñata contests.
Program and Development Manager
Dexter has worked for more than a decade at the nexus of clean energy and international development, in the U.S. and overseas, in the private and non-profit sectors. At Green Empowerment, Dexter develops new partnerships, designs new programs, and is committed to throwing Portland’s best parties for a great cause.
Community Development Facilitator for Leyte, Philippines
Before starting with Green Empowerment Daisy actively volunteered in her community and developed strong communication skills, which are essential for her role as facilitator. She is inspired by her family, who support her by reminding her that she can do anything and by the rewarding nature of her work.
Finance and Administration Manager
Gigi brings more than twenty years of experience in financial management, human resource administration and risk management to the team. She joined Green Empowerment in 2015 because she liked the idea of working for a non-profit organization and being able to focus on one program.
Philippines Deputy Program Manager Monina has always been dedicated to serving her community. Starting as a high school student, she volunteered with medical missions and tree-planting programs, from there she went on to manage community-based projects focusing on coastal resource management, upland development and capacity building of organizations. Interacting with and interviewing beneficiaries and other partners and writing about their transformation is what she loves most about her job.
Water and Sanitation Technical Officer, Philippines
As a Technical officer Orlan is responsible for conducting surveys, identifying new sites, designing systems and supervising construction. He has been working in this field for many years and has a strong connection to the work, because he grew up on a sugarcane farm in Silay City and had to walk at least one kilometer to get water every day before school.
Provincial Associate Leyte, Philippines
Ricardo brings a plethora of experience to GE from his work with local governments, Conservation International, Heifer International, Kiwanis International and Cash for Work Program Facilitator of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Western Leyte Area. He is inspired by directly working on community-based renewable energy projects and implementing village-based projects to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.
Program Associate Basilan and Zamboanga, Philippines
Ricky has worked in a variety of different fields, including being a janitor, an Overseas Filipino Worker and a Program Officer at Child Fund. Each of these jobs has taught him about hard work and perseverance. He is motivated to continue working with Green Empowerment because of the relevancy of its projects and and his love for being a part of a hardworking, supportive and humble team.
