Andrea is a passionate, versatile leader with diverse management experience and a background in international development and energy efficiency program implementation. She is a strong believer in Green Empowerment’s mission and approach. As the Executive Director for Green Empowerment, Andrea is charged with leading fundraising efforts, supporting staff on program execution, managing operations and cultivating diverse partnerships.
Latin America Regional Director
Caitlyn Peake has worked for Green Empowerment in Nicaragua since 2009. As the Latin America Regional Director for GE, Caitlyn supports our Latin America Team and partner NGOs to develop, coordinate, implement, and sustainably expand new and existing projects. She is passionate about improved cook stoves and improving livelihood opportunities.
Asia Regional Director
Gabriel is a renewable energy practitioner developing decentralized clean energy systems in Southeast Asia that are integrated with watershed conservation and rural water supply. As a Program Manager with Green Empowerment in Southeast Asia, he works closely with indigenous community groups seeking energy security and livelihoods that support a conservation vision.
Elsa joined Green Empowerment in early 2016. As program manager, she is responsible for tracking results across regions, countries, and projects, as well as contributing to project proposals and supporting GE’s communications and service-learning program. With a degree in international affairs, certification in project management for international development, and several years experience representing the UK at the United Nations, Elsa is eager to put her skills and experience to work for Green Empowerment.
As Technical Manager, Elise is responsible for ensuring the technical quality of Green Empowerment’s renewable energy and clean water systems while supporting field staff and local partners in their capacity to design, implement and sustain infrastructure projects. Program and Development Manager
Dexter has worked for more than a decade at the nexus of clean energy and international development, in the U.S. and overseas, in the private and non-profit sectors. At Green Empowerment, Dexter develops new partnerships, designs new programs, and is committed to throwing Portland’s best parties for a great cause.
Ecuador Program Manager
Having spent several years organizing community development projects in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Ecuador in partnership with local NGO’s, community organizations, and universities, Sam brings experience in clean water and renewable energy systems, training programs, and rural logistics to the management and expansion of Green Empowerment’s Ecuadorian projects.
Nicaragua Program Coordinator
Mabel is a native Nicaraguan from Siuna (in the North Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region) with 11 years of experience in the international development and public health sectors. She studied Clinical Psychology and graduated as a Public Health Technician from Northwest Vista College in San Antonio, Texas. Coming from a rural area, Mabel has experienced firsthand the need for renewable energy and water technologies and is passionate about bringing water, electricity, and improved cookstoves to rural communities. She is dedicated to supporting our local partners in Nicaragua in the implementation of service-learning trips and projects focusing on water, sanitation, renewable energy, and more.
Christine brings to Green Empowerment 20 years of experience in the social justice nonprofit world, most recently as an organizational development consultant supporting community-based organizations. She has worked with organizations such as Earth Economics, the Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts, and for many years, she founded and directed Zenyu Healing, a grassroots organization bringing equitable access to nature for marginalized communities. At Green Empowerment, Christine identifies new partnerships and develops new programs in the Philippines.
Program Officer in Malaysia
Koto joined GE in August 2017 as GE’s Program Officer in Malaysia. Koto will manage ongoing support for GE’s longtime partner Tonibung to implement renewable energy projects, and will explore new partnership opportunities to support communities in sustainable agriculture and economic development projects. Although she is new to the position she has previously volunteered to develop a watershed monitoring program in Malaysia while on sabbatical from Oregon Department of Environmental Quality in 2016.
Philippines Program Manager
Jojo has been working in the field of international development for many years. He loves the challenge of starting a new project, planning how it will be implemented, and leading and directing its activities. Jojo sees renewable energy as an effective tool for community development and it is what sets Green Empowerment apart from other organizations.
Community Development Facilitator for Leyte, Philippines
Before starting with Green Empowerment Daisy actively volunteered in her community and developed strong communication skills, which are essential for her role as facilitator. She is inspired by her family, who support her by reminding her that she can do anything and by the rewarding nature of her work.
Finance and Administration Manager
Gigi brings more than twenty years of experience in financial management, human resource administration and risk management to the team. She joined Green Empowerment in 2015 because she liked the idea of working for a non-profit organization and being able to focus on one program.
Water and Sanitation Technical Officer, Philippines
As a Technical officer Orlan is responsible for conducting surveys, identifying new sites, designing systems and supervising construction. He has been working in this field for many years and has a strong connection to the work, because he grew up on a sugarcane farm in Silay City and had to walk at least one kilometer to get water every day before school.
Provincial Associate Leyte, Philippines
Ricardo brings a plethora of experience to GE from his work with local governments, Conservation International, Heifer International, Kiwanis International and Cash for Work Program Facilitator of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Western Leyte Area. He is inspired by directly working on community-based renewable energy projects and implementing village-based projects to combat climate change and promote sustainable development.
Program Associate Basilan and Zamboanga, Philippines
Ricky has worked in a variety of different fields, including being a janitor, an Overseas Filipino Worker and a Program Officer at Child Fund. Each of these jobs has taught him about hard work and perseverance. He is motivated to continue working with Green Empowerment because of the relevancy of its projects and and his love for being a part of a hardworking, supportive and humble team.
